First Parish Church of York is a community church in the Congregational tradition of the United Church of Christ. Participation is open to all people who wish to share in the worship of God. We are a multi-generational group of worshippers who welcome people from all different backgrounds. We are handicapped accessible with a ramp to the left of the church and also have hearing assistance devices for those who need them.
We also offer a Thursday Evening Worship at 5:30pm in Fellowship Hall. Join us for a simple meal followed by worship. You may choose to come for supper at 5:30pm and stay for worship or join us when you can for upbeat, casual, meaningful worship beginning at 6pm. If you would like to sing with the Willing Voices during worship you are invited to attend their 4:30pm rehearsal on Thursdays. (Directions)
First Parish Church is located at 180 York St, York, ME 03909 in York Village. Our church service begins Sunday at 9:30 AM. Our call to worship bell rings at 9:20 to remind everyone to come and be greeted through the front doors and join us in worship.
Parking is available on the street as well as in front of, adjacent to, and behind the church (There is a one-way system, please enter from York Street to the right of the church, by Town Hall). Parking is also available across the street in the Museums of Old York parking lot on Lindsay Road. Getting to church 10 minutes before the service usually gives you a closer parking spot. Handicapped parking is available.
Please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Some people at First Parish do dress up and some dress down. You'll see people in jackets and ties, dresses, and jeans all worshipping together.
Children are always welcome to join in worship throughout the Sunday service. Since we are a family-friendly church, our service features a children's message, as well as nursery care and church school. Infant and toddler nursery care is provided down the inside stairs to the right of the front entrance in the nursery beyond the church lounge. It is staffed by trained caretakers. Children 5+ can stay with their families in church until after the children's message when they are escorted (or you may feel free to accompany them and return to worship) by the church school staff to their classrooms. After worship, you can collect your children in the Nursery and in the Fellowship Hall during coffee hour.
