Things We Do

Meet People, Have Fun & Make a Difference

New to town and want to meet people? Newly retired and looking for things to do? Hope to make a difference in York and the wider world? At First Parish Church, there are lots of ways to get involved! For more information, please call 363-3758

  Creation Care Committee

God entrusted humankind with caring for the earth. We are committed to becoming a 'zero-waste' church and that means we reduce,      reuse, recycle. Beach clean-ups, composting, and tire-pressure checks are just a few of the ways we're making a difference in York. We      strive to educate the community about ways to reduce each of our carbon footprints through presentations and printed materials.

  Fellowship In Action

Like to go places, do things, and have new experiences? This groups is often 'out and about'. From dining out to garden tours to                  snowshoeing, there are events for all seasons. Already this year, participants experienced teas of the world, hand-drumming, a wolf            sanctuary, exhibits, and several restaurants! Check our calendar for Wednesday meeting dates and scheduled events!

  Health Ministry

Weekday mornings, we offer low-cost yoga, Zumba, and aerobics in Fellowship Hall. All ages and abilities are welcome. No reservations      or long-term commitments are necessary. Drop-ins are welcome. Please see our calendar section for daily classes.

  History

First Parish has a centuries-long history of being a visible, vibrant, and deeply vital force in the York community. We are quite literally        the first parish in York and the oldest continually operating church in the state of Maine! Tours of the Old Burial Ground are available. If    you are interested in exploring and sharing the history of the church with others, please contact the office at 363-3758.

  Pumpkin Patch

Each fall, pumpkins adorn the green in front of First Parish's stone office building, creating an impressive and festive sight! The                    pumpkins are grown and supplied by Navajo Native Americans and we return 2/3 of the funds raised to them. The additional 1/3 is            dispersed locally as part of our Mission budget.

  Video

We have state-of-the-art cameras and the ability to record and live-stream services and events. If you would like to join our media team    to record, edit, and/or disseminate clips via social media; please contact the office at 363-3758.

  Visitation

First Parish takes seriously its commitment to meaningful congregational care. Members of this ministry contribute in many different        ways. Some visit the sick in the hospital, in skilled-care facilities, or at home; others make meals, or write cards, or craft lovely angels to      be given away. If you're interested in learning about visitation or congregational care, please contact the office at 363-3758.

  Wreaths & Greens

Our wreaths & greens sale occurs in early December. It's a wonderful way to get into the spirit of the season and the funds raised from      this event support our charitable contributions in the community.
