Hello First Parish Church –

After some delays in the arrival of the pumpkins, we are off to a great start in sales. Sign-ups to work the table have been strong. I hope you will consider it. It really is enjoyable to share with folks in the community that the pumpkins come from the Navajo and most of the funds raised go to support them. We do have some open times coming up: Thursday 4-6pm and Saturday 11am-2pm.  If you can take a shift, it would be greatly appreciated. Just go to the church website and you will immediately see a sign-up link. The Pumpkin Patch Team is trying its best to keep the patch alive and spread the word of First Parish’s mission: 9 years! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I’m excited about what the Stewardship Committee has planned for our church. This year’s theme “Uniting for Creation” will help us to understand stewardship as a concept that goes far beyond funding the church’s ministry. Stewardship is more of a way of life. It assumes that everything we have: our life, our finances, our skills and abilities, our time, and our hopes, all come from God. God entrusts to us everything we have for the short span of our lives, making us stewards of all God’s gifts. That means what we do with what we have matters. It matters how we manage our finances and how we care for God’s creation.
In the coming Sundays, you are invited to join us for coffee hour discussions intended to help us to grow in our sense of stewardship. Much like the “Storyteller” events we held over the summer, grab a cup of coffee and join us in Fellowship Hall. On Sunday, October 2nd, there will be a video and discussion based on the story of Jesus and the disciples “feeding the 5,000.” I hope to see you there!
