What do we do when God shows up?
Because God shows up every day. God isn’t just out there in some far-flung Heaven that only the strongest prayers can ever hope to reach. God is active here, among us, all the time. There are God-moments just around every corner. Underneath every leaf. In a whiff of perfume passing by on the street, or the smell of baking bread through an open door. In the smiles of our children, in the games we play with our pets. In the close calls in the crosswalk, the lost treasure we finally discover under a couch cushion. The emergency money we forgot we hid in our glove compartment years ago that we stumble across when we are helpless and lost. The new friend who sits with us at lunch. The surprise from a loved one.
God shows up all the time! And so I leave you a question with no answer. Or maybe a question with too many answers to count in one sitting. But a question that I want you to be asking yourself all day.
What do we do when God shows up?
How do I respond when I witness the presence of God?

Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white… suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud a voice said, “This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!” When the disciples heard this, they fell to the ground and were overcome by fear. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Get up and do not be afraid.” And when they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus himself alone. Matthew 17:1-2, 5b-8
