“The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” Psalm 9:9
“So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:34
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” John 14:27
God has lived within people wandering for years in an unforgiving wilderness. God has lived within people fighting for freedom against oppressive rulers. God has lived within a single family alone in stormy waters. God has lived within lepers separated from society, just as God has lived within a beaten man on the side of the road waiting for even a Samaritan to stop and help. God has lived within a carpenter’s child sentenced to die at the hands of unjust law, and God has lived within that innocent child’s mother and brothers as they grieved. God has lived within disciples and saints beyond counting who have sought a path to the far-off kingdom of God, as God has lived within all those who have labored their whole lives long to place each brick of that kingdom to come.
That God lives within you, too.
