They say in New England, “If you don’t like the weather, wait a few minutes.” But what if you do like the weather?
All this week, I’ve felt like the minute I get a chance to open up the windows and go outside to enjoy the warmth of the sun… the clouds come in, the wind picks up, a chill blows through, and I have to go around closing all the windows again. And then sometimes the sun comes back! But never for long.
Does that mean I should stop opening my windows?
Moments of beauty and joy can sometimes be fleeting, but that is no reason to give up seizing them, or looking for them. The fragile, ephemeral, elusive nature of those “perfect moments” can make seeking them an uphill battle, but it also makes them more valuable than gold.
As any pirate would tell you, treasure is always worth pursuing, no matter how vast the sea.
“God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their multitude. And on the seventh day God finished the work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all the work that he had done.” Genesis 1:31-2:2
