This week, as we continue our journey through Advent and light the candle of Peace, our Oasis reflection comes from church member Joanne Myers. We encourage you to take a few deep breaths and seek the calming presence of God as you read it:

Peace eludes me. I stand at the window watching the songbirds feed; the bluebirds lined up on the railing politely waiting their turn. I follow the progress of the blossoms on the peace lilies as they slowly unfold. I fill the house with the scent of sugary treats destined for grandchildren I “visit” in tiny boxes on my computer screen. I pick up books strewn throughout the house, reading the same few pages as the day before. I listen to Claire de Lune and feel the anxiety momentarily slip away, yet peace continues to elude me. I pick up my Grammy’s well-worn Bible and it automatically opens to John 14:27. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives. Let not your hearts be troubled; neither let them be afraid.” May it be so. —Joanne Myers
