The Oasis - December 9, 2020
Author: Joanne Myers
December 09, 2020
December 9, 2020
This week, as we continue our journey through Advent and light the candle of Peace, our Oasis reflection comes from church member Joanne Myers. We encourage you to take a few deep breaths and seek the calming presence of God as you read it:
Peace eludes me. I stand at the window watching the songbirds feed; the bluebirds lined up on the railing politely waiting their turn. I follow the progress of the blossoms on the peace lilies as they slowly unfold. I fill the house with the scent of sugary treats destined for grandchildren I “visit” in tiny boxes on my computer screen. I pick up books strewn throughout the house, reading the same few pages as the day before. I listen to Claire de Lune and feel the anxiety momentarily slip away, yet peace continues to elude me. I pick up my Grammy’s well-worn Bible and it automatically opens to
John 14:27. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give as the world gives. Let not your hearts be troubled; neither let them be afraid.”
May it be so. —Joanne Myers
